FBI arrests 9 Nigerians for $3.5m wire fraud in the US Nine Nigerians have been arrested in the United States of America over allegations of fraud. Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and James Spero, Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa, Florida, Field Office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), announced this in a statement. The suspects were arrested for allegedly defrauding businesses and individuals of more than $3.5 million through business email compromises, a Russian oil scam, and a romance scam. Those arrested were identified as Oluwaseun Adelekan, Olalekan Daramola, Solomon Aburekhanlen, Gbenga Oyeneyin, Abiola Olajumoke, Temitope Omotayo, Bryan Eadie, Albert Lucas, and Ademola Adebogun. “As alleged, these defendants deployed three different email schemes to defraud their victims,” Berman was quoted as saying in the statement. The story was told by one Cynthia Chidimma Ezike on her Facebook page. According to Cynthia, the woman who gave birth is her brother’s wife. Sharing a photo of the newborn baby, Cynthia revealed that her brother’s wife gave birth to the child on their wedding day. However, she did not say if the child delivery was before or after the wedding ceremony. Government Warns Lagos Residents Of Poisonous ‘Ponmo’ Sold In Markets The Lagos State Government has alerted residents of the state to the circulation of “poisonous ponmo” in some markets in the state. A statement by Adeola Salako, director of public affairs, Lagos ministry of health, said three persons involved in the sale of the “poisonous ponmo” in Ojo and Iba local government areas of the state have been arrested. Salako said the cow-skin was seized in large quantities, adding that samples of the confiscated ponmo had been sent to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to test their suitability for consumption. “The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who disclosed this in his office today (Sunday) while reviewing report of preliminary investigation and enforcement carried out on the sale of the toxic ponmo in the areas, stated that the three persons involved have been charged to court, while samples of the confiscated ponmo h...
